ANH eBlast: Positive news inspite of Big Food & Pharma efforts

23rd September 2009

It’s very easy to look at the current situation facing those of us desirous of living more harmoniously with nature using natural healthcare, and feel daunted or demoralised by the sheer magnitude of what appears to be ‘against’ us.  It’s easy to get diverted by what seems to be a corporate and regulatory stranglehold on our food supply, natural medicines and traditional medicinal cultures and forget that at times of great change the going gets incredibly tough before it becomes immeasurably transformed.  We’re often asked how we manage to keep so positive and buoyant doing what we do year in and year out.  And how we keep from feeling like we’re fighting a losing battle and burning out.

Apart from the fact that we don’t feel that military terminology is particularly appropriate to describe what we do, we see this as a crucial time for choice and decision-making.  When faced with an array of foods from different cultures on a banquet table, no matter how hard the hostess tries to persuade you to try those exotic delicacies, there’s always going to be some or many things you just don’t like.  But you don’t feel any fear or anger or the need to fight the hostess—you just make different choices.  It’s the same choice-making process when it comes to our experiences.  You may feel this is an overly simplistic way of approaching something so fundamental as our human rights and freedom of healthcare choice, but it isn’t intended to be.

In creating anything new it’s important to know what you don’t want so that you can decide what you do want.  Faced with what we’re currently up against from Big Pharma, Big Food and the biotech industry, it’s so important to choose what we do want and keep our focus set on supporting the paradigm shift in healthcare, rather than expending energy in fear, buried deep in conspiracy thinking.

Unless you have detectable and measurable evidence that your campaigning activities are influencing policy at governmental levels it goes without saying that a paradigm shift in healthcare will not occur.  This is particularly the case with the laws governing medicine and our healthcare system given that these laws—the very ones that are infringing our access to natural health products in so many parts of the world—uniquely have supremacy over all other laws!

So in short what we’re proposing is that a coordinated change in both your thinking and your choices, made within a fear-free context are the simplest and potentially most powerful ingredients for change.  The ANH, which includes the thousands of supporters we have around the world are, we believe, an instrumental component to this paradigm shift.  And it’s being part of this movement for change that is so fulfilling, motivating and above all positive—it’s what keeps us far from burning out and loving what we do!

One of the Gold Members of the ANH Innovators Club, Nutri-Link Ltd, has recently launched a new education site that we feel you should know about.  We think it’s going to prove an invaluable site for internationally sourced research looking at the mechanisms of health and disease from a nutritional perspective.  If you’re a healthcare professional looking to gain further insight from international experts, there’s the added bonus of being able to do this from the comfort of your own home.
